Write for In the box

So you want to write for In the box? Awesome. We’d like that.

What we’re looking for

In the box is an online magazine about cutting edge system administration tools and techniques, web application development, Open Source in business, system security, and whatever else strikes our fancy. It is loosely affiliated with the Webmin Open Source system administration project, and Virtualmin, Inc., but is not specific to those tools.

What we aren’t looking for

Articles published elsewhere, articles about computing topics wholly unrelated to the above mentioned topics, or articles with a clear commercial bent. If we don’t use In the box to sell Virtualmin, you certainly can’t use it merely as a sales vehicle for your application or service.

Why you’d want to write for In the box

Because you want some traffic, want to borrow some of our credibility (we’re the Webmin guys, we’ve got systems management credibility to burn), or want to get something off your chest. You’ve seen the future of systems and web server management or web application development and want to share it with the world. You’ve hacked together something cool for system or web server administrators and you want to show everybody how you did it.

Compensation

We pay $200 for each published feature article, $300 for lead articles, and $50 for short snippets (~200 words).
